An Affordable Way to Replace Missing Teeth

One of the major advantages of dentures is they are the most affordable way to replace a few missing teeth or an entire mouth. Dentures, which can be made of acrylic or metallic, can give you the confidence to smile and can also improve facial appearance. They also can make eating favourite foods possible.

At Dr. Paul Coumbis General and Cosmetic Dental Practice, we offer two types of dentures: full dentures that replace all of your teeth and partial dentures, which replace several missing teeth.

What Does the Process Involve?

It may be necessary to pull some of your teeth or perform surgery on the bony ridges beneath your gums to accommodate your new dentures.

Because your mouth and teeth are as unique as your fingerprint, we’ll ensure that your dentures are crafted to fit your smile needs. They can be colour-matched to the rest of your teeth for a seamless appearance.

We begin by taking an impression of your teeth which is used to custom-make your dentures. If your dentures are full, and any teeth require removal, we will place a temporary denture to promote the healing process and to provide “teeth” while your gums heal. Lastly, we will prepare a final denture after a healing period of 6-12 months has taken place.

Partial dentures can also help to improve your smile and overall facial aesthetics. These are used to replace missing teeth and are affixed to existing teeth with anchors made of plastic or metal.

How Do I Care for My Dentures?

You should remove your dentures, whether full or partial, at night when you go to sleep so that saliva can “wash” over your gums to maintain a healthy mouth. Removing your dentures also gives your gums a critical rest.

It’s also essential to clean your dentures — but don’t use toothpaste as it can be a bit abrasive. Instead, you can use mild dishwashing liquid and a soft brush to keep them clean.

With dentures, you no longer have to hide your smile. Instead, you can beam with confidence. To get started, contact our Double Bay office today to book an appointment! We accept all major health funds.
