Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges Double Bay, Woollahra NSWWe understand that not everyone is born with a picture-perfect smile. With crowns and bridges, you can achieve a healthy, natural-looking smile and functionality.

Natural-looking Crowns

One of the ways we enhance a patient’s smile is with ceramic same-day crowns. If you have a tooth that has been damaged or worn, a crown, which is also called a cap, can help to improve its appearance. If you have or have had any of the following, you may be a candidate for a crown:

  • Bridges
  • Broken teeth
  • Dental implants
  • Root canal
  • Worn teeth due to bruxism

A crown looks and performs like a natural tooth so you can enjoy your favourite foods and smile with confidence. If you take good care of your crown, it can last a long time, perhaps for life.

We Can Bridge That Gap

A dental bridge is comprised of two crowns on either side of the missing tooth connected to an artificial tooth, called a pontic, in the middle. These three “teeth” form the “bridge” that is matched to the colour of your teeth and then cemented into place. By replacing your missing tooth, you can smile with more confidence.

The Process

Dr Coumbis will examine your mouth and the areas around the missing tooth to determine whether a dental bridge is a suitable solution for you. If he considers you to be an ideal candidate for a bridge, the teeth (bridge anchors) that are on either side of the missing tooth will be prepared for crowns. If he believes a bridge could benefit your smile, Dr Coumbis will take an impression so that the bridge will fit snugly into the space and blend seamlessly with your existing teeth. Before you leave, he will place a temporary bridge to protect the area until the permanent bridge is ready. Your last visit as part of the process entails the permanent bridge being cemented into place. That’s all there is to it. If you practice good oral hygiene and maintain your proper dental cleaning and examination schedule, your new bridge should last for a long time.
