Gentle Dental Fillings Double Bay

Creating Healthy Teeth for All Ages

Dental Fillings Double BayTooth decay is one of the most prevalent health concerns in children and a common condition seen in adults. Fortunately, early screening and diagnosis allow us to identify cavities when they’re small, making treatments less invasive.

Depending on the size of the decay, we may recommend a small white filling or a lab-made inlay or onlay. Each of these durable restorations is designed to match the colour of your tooth enamel, allowing them to blend in with your overall smile.

Do I Have a Cavity?

Not all cavities can cause pain. To screen for decay and evaluate the size of the lesion, we will need to take an X-ray of the tooth. Digital imaging allows us to see inside of the tooth to determine if the cavity has spread to adjacent teeth or into the nerve. Depending on the extent of the damage and if caught early enough, a small filling may be all that’s necessary.

What to Expect

Getting a dental filling is a relatively straightforward procedure. Your comfort is always important to us, but we also have sedation dentistry options available to help you feel as relaxed as possible.

After the tooth is thoroughly numbed, the compromised enamel is removed, and the opening is carefully prepped. Next, a matched composite material is shaped into the tooth and cured in place.

If you require a larger inlay or onlay, an impression will be made for the lab to design the restoration from porcelain. In the meantime, a temporary filling will be placed to minimise discomfort. The final lab-made filing is placed about two weeks later.

The final results make it appear as if your tooth is completely whole again. To an untrained eye, your new tooth-coloured filling won’t even be noticeable.
